Whether you came on two legs or four, you helped make a difference.

We are beyond grateful to share that Milo's 5K for the Homeless was an incredible success, and this year, we made history. With approximately 100 more participants than last year (yes, counting the four-legged ones!), our community came out in full force to walk, run, and wag their way toward a more equitable Long Island.

More Than a Race: A Statement About Homelessness and Pets

Milo's 5K for the Homeless is proudly dog-friendly, and that's no accident. Organized by the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless, the event shines a light on a barrier that too often goes unnoticed: most homeless shelters don't allow pets.

For many individuals experiencing homelessness, their dog or cat isn't just a companion. They're family. The fear of being separated from a beloved pet can be a real reason someone avoids seeking shelter, even in dangerous conditions. By welcoming dogs to our 5K, we're keeping that conversation front and center.

This year's turnout, paws and all, is proof that Long Island is paying attention.

Thank You to Our Amazing Sponsors

None of this would be possible without the generous support of our sponsors. These organizations and individuals believed in our mission and helped bring this event to life. We are deeply grateful for each one of them.

The Power of Showing Up

When you joined Milo's 5K, whether you ran a personal best, strolled with a stroller, or let your dog set the pace, you helped raise awareness for an issue that affects thousands of Long Islanders every year.

The Long Island Coalition for the Homeless works year-round to address homelessness in our region. Events like this 5K help us spread the word, grow our community of supporters, and keep this important cause visible.
