Not only do employees prefer to work for companies that show responsible corporate citizenship, but nearly 90% of consumers want the products and services they use to support a worthy cause. Moreover 41% of how people feel about a company is based on their perceptions of the firm’s corporate social responsibility practices.
There are many easy ways for your company and employees to get involved helping Long Island’s most vulnerable men, women and children:
Program & Event Sponsorships:
Program & Event Sponsorships are the most direct way for your company to help our neighbors in need.
Sponsor our Boutique to provide to help provide essential items to almost 10,000 individuals and families throughout the year
Give to the over 2,000 homeless children on Long Island by providing them backpacks full of school supplies and a once in a lifetime camp experience at the Back Pack Pirate Festival
Help spread awareness about the need for affordable housing and the close to 4,000 homeless individuals on Long Island at the Have a Heart for the Homeless Candlelight Vigil
Volunteering is a great way for businesses to do team building, make new connections in the community, and have a heart-felt good time while helping those in need! So, Pay It Forward!
We happily create corporate volunteer days for your team to engage in a day of community service. Corporate days can be as small as five employees coming to assist in the Boutique or a hundred team members putting together homeless kits. We have something for every interest from organizing clothing to building vertical gardens!
In-kind Donations & Drives
Blankets, backpacks full of school supplies, a warm winter coat with a hat or the right clothes for a job interview: You can help us collect items that make a monumental impact in the lives of homeless adults and children. To learn more visit our Hosting a Drive or In-Kind Giving pages.
Here are some drive ideas to host in your office:
Supply our Students (SOS) Drive: Our annual back to school drive that provides thousands of children the tools needed to succeed in school. For this drive only new school supplies and backpacks are accepted.
Winter Drive: Imagine you were going camping in the middle of February with one backpack - what would you need? We need your help to collect new or gently used winter essentials for Long Island's most vulnerable.
Comfort Zone Drive: LICH wants you to get out of your comfort zone by donating those personal items! We are looking for the items that you find most embarrassing to buy - tampons, condoms, pads, wipes!
The Long Island Coalition for the Homeless accepts donations of seasonal clothing, baby items, housewares, nonperishable foods, and blankets. We do not accept large furniture or appliances.
All donations can be brought to 600 Albany Ave, Amityville NY 11701 Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.
LICH has a very small team and has very limited ability to pick up donations.
