Bequest & Planned Giving
Include us in your
will or trust
A gift that costs you nothing
during your lifetime
Through your Will or other planned gift, you can create your own personal legacy at the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless that will assist thousands of men, women and children. With easy and thoughtful planning, you can make provisions to provide invaluable financial assistance in your honor or in memory of a special person in your life. Your legacy is your imprint that will ultimately leave a lasting impression on the community for many years to come.
So, what will your legacy be?
This is the most common and simplest planned giving gift is through your will or living trust. Bequests may be for a specific dollar amount or a percentage of one’s estate. If you choose to make an outright bequest, the provision in your will or trust can be very straightforward.
"I hereby give, devise and bequeath to the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless, a nonprofit corporation now or formerly at 600 Albany Ave, Amityville NY 11701, the sum of $_______(or ___ percent of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate) to be used for the general purposes (or for a particular program of your choosing)."
If you already have a will it is not necessary to rewrite it to make a bequest to LICH! You can simply instruct your legal advisor to prepare an amendment to your current will or living trust. The change is simple and easy!
Gifts of Plans and Policies:
People are often surprised to learn that the assets they thought would pass to their heirs are among the most heavily taxed in their estates. The combination of federal income, estate and excise taxes can seriously erode the value of retirement savings when received by an heir. Naming the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless as a partial recipient of your IRAs and qualified retirement plans, such as 401(k)s, are a tax efficient way to help the thousands of homeless individuals across Long Island. The process is simple! Just notify your plan's administrator of your intentions!
You can also designate the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy.
